The Athena Necklace

Athena was the goddess of wisdom, reasoning, and intelligence in Greek mythology. She enjoyed a vast popularity among gods and mortals. She had an extraordinary birth : after learning that his wife Metis was pregnant, Zeus swallowed her because of a prophecy that the child Metis was going to bear would try to overthrow him and become the lord of the heavens. But when it was time for Athena to be born, Zeus began to complain of a massive headache. Athena then sprang from his head fully grown and dressed in armor.

Athena was known for her ferocity in battle but unlike Ares, she never displayed hotheadedness and always believed in fighting for justice and righteousness. She was the divine personification of reasoning, wisdom, and knowledge. The sheer scale of influence she had over the mortal world is evident from the fact that the city of Athens took its name after her.

This coin is a tribute to women. Women are and will always be my inspiration. A woman's face was hand carved on the top part of the coin.
